Maine Coast Engagement Photos

I love shooting in winter because it encourages me to try new things, like shooting outside of my usual darker, lush and woodsy locations. And most of Maine's gorgeous spots are pretty quiet when it's this cold. Alaina & Andrew, Henry & Porkchop and I had a great time exploring Ogunquit Beach, being silly, chasing seagulls, and even (oops) getting wetter than we'd intended.

Can't wait for their cozy wedding at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in December!

Providence Wedding Photography

Emily and Chris are an absolute treasure. They fell in love while helping homeless folks in Providence and rocking out at local shows. It was too perfect that after their sweet church ceremony they partied at a local arts space they love and invited Big Nazo to crash the fun.

Their day was super sentimental, fun, and just amazing - the perfect Providence hipster wedding.

Camden Hills Couple's Photos

Oh I have blogging to catch up on! Here's one of my favorite shoots from this fall - exploring the Camden Hills and Fernald's Neck in Maine with this sweet married couple, Karen & Peter. One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is documenting couples exploring Maine's gorgeous landscape.

I'm so grateful for my 2017 couples and all the adventurous Maine engagement sessions I have to look forward to this year now too!

Enjoy this post - it's an especially lovely one!

Portland, Maine Engagement Photos

So many of my couples don't actually live in Maine, but I think it's so wonderful that they come back here to get married. Brit and Brett live in Arizona now but are having a Maine wedding next spring. We got to explore Portland together while they visited for Thanksgiving. They are pretty stinkin' cute, and I feel so lucky to be a Maine wedding photographer for fun-loving couples like this!

In case you're wondering, we visited Arabica Coffee and Strange Maine. Definitely check them out next time you're in Portland!

Hope Artiste Village Wedding

Working for other photographers is always the best. Adam & Jess killed it. Adam and his guys got ready at the Dean Hotel in Providence, RI, and the ladies hung out at Jess's loft. They got married at Sanctuary Church and celebrated later at the Hope Artiste Village. Pretty sure I haven't worked for a couple who seemed to so easily throw a gorgeous wedding like this. This one's a stunner!

Their friends played this song during the ceremony and it was amazing... Omg press play.

Vaughn Woods Wedding // Jo & Josh

Josh is my brother. Jo is my new sister. I could write a novel explaining how special it was to have my family come to Maine for their fabulous, tiny, untraditional AF wedding, but I'll try not to.

My parents and brothers and I had not been together in years. We live in all opposite ends of the country! But this summer we camped out and partied at my in-laws place and my unfinished house in Maine to celebrate Josh and Jo getting hitched. It was heaven.

It was also the first time any of us had met Jo, and we all fell madly in love with her. You probably will too. She is adorable. And omg they named their baby girl Mango Jean. They are the best.

My family is strange and fun, creative and artistic, and this celebration in the woods with a non-existent budget was totally our style. Zero stress, lots of laughs, happy tears, jelly shoes and 90's sweaters. I've been to a lot of weddings, but this was my favorite one by far.

Oh I debated whether or not I should take photos during their ceremony, but it all worked out perfectly. I didn't use my camera the rest of the time my family was visiting, but I gave everyone disposable cameras to use instead! There are a lot of those images in this post too (it's probably obvious, but they start halfway through the party).

Their ceremony took place at Vaughn Woods (aka "Hobbitland") in Hallowell, ME in a pop-up sorta way. We just took over the bridge for a few minutes, setup some flowers, did our magic, and popped back out. So simple and sweet. And free. We had a party later that night in our half-built home, where Josh & Jo revealed their baby's gender, and we did a puzzle to learn her name, and we played with glow sticks, and it was awesome.

Special thanks to Hannah from Buckle Farm for the bouquet. We used them in the most magical way - everyone got to hold a few flowers during the ceremony, and then we took turns giving them all to Jo as a gesture of welcoming her to the family. Gosh it was so special.

This is what a Jardim family non-wedding looks like.

Press play.

Maine Couples Session

This job may require lots of time on a computer, but it always redeems itself when I get to explore the Maine woods. Last week Malorrie, Jared and I walked around the Cathance River Preserve for their couple's session, and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

Purely documentary photography is always my goal in these sessions, but it can be hard to hold back on giving any direction at all - stop here for a second, ooh see that pretty light? let's go over there, why don't you two hold hands? For this session though, I didn't interfere with them at all, just let them explore the woods and enjoy being together. I followed them around like they were forest creatures and I was some kind of wildlife photographer. Ha. And I think it turned out just perfectly.

Bourne Farm Engagement Session

Alicia and Scott have such a cute story. They've known each other since they were children and their families spent summers in the same neighborhood on the Cape. We hung out near their families' homes and explored nearby Bourne Farm for some early morning engagement photos. These two were fun, cute, silly, and my morning with them was a blast!

Woodsy Maine Wedding

This wedding was awesome because it was really just a party. Kelsey & Aidan were married earlier in NY where they live, then planned a getaway to the Montague Retreat Center in western Mass to celebrate with family & friends.

It rained most of the day but let up just in time for their portraits! The sun even peeked out for a minute, so just before dinner we ran back up the hill to play in it.

Their story is a perfect example of how laid-back can still be absolutely gorgeous.

Press play.
